Partner Update

May 2, 2024

What God is doing...

  • In South Africa I had the privilege of preaching on the Lord’s Day to an influential church in the biblical counseling area, and teaching three different groups, including orphanage middle schoolers about anger. I spoke about how change happens, referring to our model of biblical change with “The Three Trees” and “The Eight Questions,” with counselors and trainees and offered a session about anger to parents and orphanage home parents working with teens. (The focus on anger was at the request of the counselor leaders in the church and orphanage.)

  • While in South Africa, I was able to visit with five different remarkable ministry leaders at their ministry sites. All five look like they may have future Partnerships with Oakseed. They are sound, indigenous, ministries with the gospel through various strategies of help to the needy villages in which they serve. Most served the desperate children and infants in the villages with food, clothing, health care, foster and adoption services, in the name of Christ. Local churches are involved in each case for accountability and support to the children and parents whom the ministries serve.

  • In addition, I was asked to speak and encourage students in one of Liberia’s evangelical vocational training ministries (where my motorcycle taxi ride took me). I talked about the parable of the talents and used that as a jumping off point to challenge students to use their lives and talents for the Kingdom of God.

  • In Monrovia I met with leaders from five ministries that are future prospects for Oakseed Partnerships and preached twice in the main mission church, Mission Bethel, where our counselor training took place.

Please pray...

  • Pray for the spread of the gospel through the counseling, teaching, and serving efforts of these brothers and sisters.
  • Pray for leaders who strive to squeeze every bit of value out of every dollar for the benefit of the children and parents they serve.
  • Pray for more volunteers for the ministries; their stamina; and finances for the ministries to help pay for transportation for them.
  • Pray for the church leaders as they seek to provide support to the ministry leaders.
  • Pray for the Oakseed Board who will be trying to assess which ministries to invite into Partnership and when.
